Obituary

Helen M. Seyer, 72, of Eau Claire, went to join her beloved husband, Henry, and her Savior on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. At the time of her death, she resided at Dove Healthcare.\r\nHelen Mary Haugen was born to Harry and Helen (Corrigan) Haugen on July 29, 1935, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. She was the first girl, after three brothers, and her parents were overjoyed. She attended St.Patrick's Grade School, and graduated from Regis High School in 1953. While at Regis, she forged a special bond with friends that lasted a lifetime. In high school, Helen participated in music and forensics. After graduation, Helen was employed at the Eau Claire City Hall. In 1957, she married the love of her life, Henry B. Seyer. Helen was proud to be a stay-at-home Mom, but was always active in her Church. Except for a brief stay in Arizona, Helen was a life-long resident of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was President of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, President of her Homeowners Association, and enjoyed working at the Indian Waters Girl Scout Council. \r\nHelen's life centered around her children and grandchildren. She loved music, traveling to Arizona, walking in the Mall, and shopping. She was a talented leader, and always succeeded in her many endeavors. Helen's courage in facing the unexpected death of her husband Henry in 1986, and her own prolonged illness set an example for everyone who knew her. Her life-long relationship with the Lord always sustained her. Her joyful Irish spirit and smile will always be remembered.\r\nHelen is survived by three sons, John (Mary) Seyer of Eau Claire, Bill (Judy) Seyer of Lancaster, and Mark (Cyndi) Seyer of Elk Mound; a daughter, Mary (Jeff) Seyer-Schutkoske of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Kate, Matt, Amanda, Kyle, and Shawn Seyer, and Helen and Alexander Schutkoske. She will be sadly missed by her two brothers, Bill (Judy) Haugen of Phoenix, AZ, and Harry (Ellie) Haugen of Scottsdale, AZ; her only sister, Kathy Gabrielson (Reidar) of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Ted (Nancy) Seyer of Mondovi; two sisters-in-law, Louise (Joe) Orfe, and Elsie Taerud, both of Altoona; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nHelen had two special friends, Rosie Goodrich and Vi Roffler both of Eau Claire who cared for her during her illness, and many classmates, and friends who will miss her.\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Joanne Haugen.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Eugene A. Klink officiating. Burial will be in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in the town of Clear Creek near Brackett. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home. There will be a 7 p.m. public Rosary Service Friday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland
