Helen E. Strader, 95, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at Luther Hospital. She was born in the town of Spring Valley, Wisconsin on December 9, 1909, the daughter of Matthew and Mary A. (Frank) Werner.\r\nShe grew up near Weston and graduated as a stenographer from the Eau Claire Business Institute in 1929. Helen worked as a secretary at N.S.P., prior to her marriage to Harold T. Strader on November 18, 1931 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. \r\nIn 1957, she began working at Middlefort Clinic until her retirement in 1972.\r\nHelen was a 70 year member of Grace Lutheran Church and a member of its Lydia Circle. She was also a member of the Eastern Star since 1944. \r\nSurvivors include a granddaughter, Debra (Robert) Pavelski of Mondovi; grandson, Steven (Tammy) Johnson of Eau Claire; seven great grandchildren, Laken, Kyle, Michael, Jacob, Amanda, Kayla and Dustin; brother, Robert (Virginia) of Menomonie; sister, Goldie Werner of Menomonie; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold in 1970; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and David A. Johnson; three sisters, Margaret Denning, Edna Thompson and Frances Becker; and three brothers, Arthur, Clarence, and Elmer Werner.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
