Helen Berneice Thompson, 89, of Eau Claire and formerly of Spooner died today, Friday, October 14, 2005, at Dove Healthcare. She was born in Spooner on April 14, 1916, the daughter of Daniel and Eva (Cavanaugh) Hoaglund. Helen married Norman Thompson in Spooner in 1970.\r\nShe had been active in the Catholic Order of Foresters, Degree of Honor, and the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary in Spooner.\r\nHelen is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Goulding of Eau Clare; son, Thomas (Claire) Goulding of Wilmette, IL; two granddaughters, Laura (Derk) Tenzer and Allison Goulding; two great grandsons, Jack and Drew Tenzer; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Irene Standel, Dorothy Perkins, Billie Glau, and Kathleen Kjellenberg.\r\nMemorials are appreciated at this time in lieu of flowers to St. Bede Monastery, 1190 Priory Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701\r\nFamily and friends may call today Friday, October 14, 2005, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home. There will be a public prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Burial will be in Spooner Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.\r\n \r\n
