Obituary

Helen E. Walters, 85, of Black Creek, Wisconsin and formerly of Eau Claire, died Thursday, October 11, 2001 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born on February 27, 1916 in Menasha, Wisconsin the daughter of Julius and Elizabeth (Olson) Weinke. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1936. \r\nHelen married Albert L. Walters in Eau Claire on September 11, 1936. \r\nShe was a member of the Wheaton Homemakers, Brunswick Homemakers, Little Red Cardinals 4-H and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53. \r\nThey raised their children in Eau Claire and following Albert's death in 1961, Helen moved to Menasha in 1963.\r\nSurvivors include three sons, Harold (Judy) Walters and Robert Walters both of Eau Claire, and Jeff (Angie) Walters of Appleton; three daughters, Darlene (Gene) Close of Webster, Janice (Jack) Nelson of Neenah and Connie (Phil) Gomm of Black Creek; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Anderson of Neenah; and her beloved pet, Chi-Chi.\r\nHelen was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Julius and Leslie Weinke; sister, Charlotte Barrett; an infant granddaughter and great-grandson; and close friend Tony King. \r\nFuneral services will be 12:00 p.m. noon, Monday, October 15, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Chris W. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Brunswick Cemetery in the town of Brunswick. Family and Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services on Monday.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
