H. K. "Zeke" Ziegenbein, 79, of 4204 Mill Ridge Circle, Eau Claire passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Luther Hospital. \r\nHe was born in Milan, Wisconsin on July 30, 1928, the son of August and Henrietta (Hackl) Ziegenbein.\r\nHe served in Japan with the U.S. Army during World War II.\r\nOn June 22, 1958, Zeke married Leona A. Sapetta at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nZeke worked as a Field Representative for United Commercial Travelers of America until his retirement in 1982. He was member of United Commercial Travelers of America Council #336, and Past Grand Counselor of UCT for the State of Wisconsin. He was also a 55 year member of Eau Claire Lodge #112 F&AM, a 32nd degree mason, member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire, Mehara Shrine Club of Eau Claire, and Zor Shrine of Madison. He was a member of VFW Post #305. \r\nZeke is survived by his wife of 49 years, Leona; two daughters, Tammy Ziegenbein of Plymouth, MN, and Sherrie (Gregg) Knapp of Hudson; two special grandchildren, Spencer and Kate Knapp of Hudson; a sister, Hertha Leland of Tucson, AZ; three brothers-in-law, Lee (Kathi) Sapetta of Ham Lake, MN, W.A. "Lefty" Foster of Eau Claire and Brian Duffy of Racine; and many special nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irma Duffy and Hilde Foster; and a brother-in-law Kenneth Leland.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Intern Pastor Mary Eide officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
