Obituary

Henrietta J. Tittel, 85, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was born on December 14, 1917 the daughter of Anna (Stargardt) and August Tittel in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Her father passed away when she was 2 years old. \r\nShe graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1936.\r\nShe began her working career at Presto making ammunition for the war and later went to Uniroyal where she worked in the tire room. She retired from Uniroyal in 1978 after 30 years of service.\r\nShe cared for her mother and brother until their deaths in 1962 and 1980. She lived in the home where she was born until her mother's death. She then built a house in the town of Seymour on 67th Avenue to be near her only sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Carl Peterson.\r\nShe loved nature...flowers, birds, animals. Her very special pets, Morgan, Molly and Barnaby will surely miss her. She supported the Eau Claire and Chippewa County Humane Associations. She was an avid reader, bought, read and shared many books. She was always caring, thoughtful and very generous to all.\r\nShe spent the last four years of her life in dialysis at Sacred Heart Hospital. During this period she grew to love her extended family, and they shared the same close bond. Throwing verbal jesters at on another, sharing stories and even giving slips of her prize plants, she became the dialysis nurses very special, "sweet lady".\r\nShe is survived by her nieces and nephews: Margaret Peterson (her care giver), Cary Johnson, John E. (Leanne) Peterson, Donna (Don) Whiting, and Virginia Peterson, all of the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area, Ronald (Sharon) Peterson of Janesville,WI; a brother-in-law, Carl J. Peterson of Eau Claire; a sister-in-law, Bernice Tittle of Eau Claire; and many great nieces (specially Pamela Johnson) and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ernestine (Carl) Peterson; and her six brothers, Herman, Ernest, Martin, Bernard, George and Harold Tittel.\r\nGraveside services will be at 2 pm Friday, August 8, 2003 at Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor Howard Fehr of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements are with Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services.
