HENRY A. MONSON, 90, formerly of Half Moon Apartments, Eau Claire, died Thursday, December 23, 1999 at The Clairemont. He was born June 13, 1909 in Pleasant Valley Township to Martin and Hannah (Pederson) Monson. Henry married Onie Arneson on April 15, 1933 in Eleva.\r\nHe worked at National Presto Industries in the early 1930's. Henry farmed in the town of Pleasant Valley, Eau Claire County for forty years. In 1967, he began working for the food service, UWEC, and worked there until his retirement in 1974. \r\nHenry was active in Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and in his later years at First Lutheran Church, Eau Claire.\r\nHe served as a board member of Jensen School District in rural Eau Claire County for many years.\r\nHenry loved the outdoors and, in his later years, spent many hours walking around Eau Claire, noting all the changes and improvements being made.\r\nSurvivors include three daughters, Joyce (Alton) Hageness of rural Eleva, Linda (Dale) Sundby of Menomonie, Ann Monson of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Rose Monson and Joy Monson, both of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Onie; a son Ronald; four brothers, Ernie, Joe, Rudy and Ossie; and three sisters, Sara Meyers, Martha Schmidtke, and Evelyn Hebert.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Chapel at First Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery in the town of Drammen. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
