HERBERT G. SORENSON, age 81, of 528 Fountain St., died Friday, November 28, 1997 at Luther Hospital. He was born August 31, 1916 in Minneapolis,Minnesota, to George and Emily (Lowry) Sorenson. As a young boy, Herbert moved with his family to Eau Claire, where he grew up, graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School with the Class of 1935. Herbert married Margaret Johnson in Waukon,IA on June 1, 1939. He served his country during World War II, with the U.S. Army, in the Aleutian Islands. Herbert worked 39 years at Uniroyal, retiring in 1978.\r\nHe was a charter member of G.O.A.T.S., at Plymouth United Church of Christ and a member of American Legion Post #0812 in Milwaukee.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Darryl (Betty) of Brandon,MS; a daughter, Karilyn Allen of San Jose,CA: four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Shirley) Sorenson of Wausau and Duane (June) Sorenson of Kenosha; two sisters, Ethel (Vermont) Sandvig of Eau Claire and Jane (Robert) Stein of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nHerbert was a kind man, good father, and Margaret's best friend. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Plymouth United Church of Christ with Pastor Chris W. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.\r\nThe family requests that memorials, please be directed to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. \r\n
