Obituary

Herman D. Nelson, 72, of Brunswick Township, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, with his family by his side. He was born on December 1, 1938 in Eau Claire to C. Donovan and Goldina (Moldrem) Nelson. Herman farmed in the Town of Brunswick and worked at the Pope and Talbot Paper Mill for 35 years. He also owned Nelson Pallets. Herman loved gardening, taking care of his flowers, spending time with his grandkids, and dancing. He helped start the Brunswick Fire Department, and served as Captain for many years. Herman is survived by his wife, Marlene (Rud); children, Gary (special friend, Mindee) of Canton, GA, Joey (Tracy), Kevin (Penny), Nancy (Travis) Yarrington, and Peggy Burchell all of Eau Claire; daughter-in-law, Tracy (George) Patchen of Clear Lake, MN; step-children, Rena (Dan) LeDuc of Chippewa Falls, Kim (Dennis) Serum, Kory (Lori) Rud, and Ryan Rud (Shannon) all of Gilmanton; grandchildren, Alicia (Rich), Brian, Austin, Rebecca, Rachel, Heather, Ryan, Emily, Anthony, Alisha (Paul), Abigail, Andrew, Amanda, Dustin, and Donald; step-grandchildren, Danielle, Chelsea, Brett, Brady, Reghan, Jarin, Ryan, and Damontae; great-grandchildren, Jamison, Sebastian, and Desiree; siblings, Arlen (Mary) of Racine, and Ellen (Lauren) Mai of Appleton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 47 years, Karen (Drews); sister, Betty Judicki; sons, David and Brian; and daughter, Jennifer (Donald Jr.) Pavelski. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave. with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Brunswick Cemetery in the Town of Brunswick. Memorials are preferred to the Brunswick Fire Department.
