Obituary

Hethel Erdman, 96, of Eau Claire died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at the Syverson Lutheran Home. Hethel was born on Jan. 11, 1909, to Helmer and Josephine (Johnson) Grorud in the town of Drammen, Wisconsin. There were five brothers and five sisters in the family. \r\nHethel was baptized, confirmed, and later married Otto Erdman in Drammen on May 26, 1934, at the Drammen Lutheran Church. They were married for 62 years, until his death in 1996. She was an active member of Epiphany Lutheran Church for more than 65 years and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed ladies aid and Bible study groups, AARP, the Uniroyal Retirement club, and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Green Bay Packers fan. She worked as a florist for many years at Demler's greenhouse. She loved flowers and gardening, her family and friends, and especially her two grandchildren.\r\nHethel is survived by a son, Jim Erdman, of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Dorothy (Robert) Englund, of Hilton Head, SC; a grandson, Steve (Roxanne), of McLean, VA; a granddaughter, Sheri Englund and her husband, Luke Keller, of Ithaca, NY, four great grandchildren, Julia, Dan, and David Englund, and Amelia Keller, two brothers, Calvin Grorud of Janesville, WI, and Vilas Grorud of Eau Claire, and twin sisters Ruby Mueller and Ruth Kalseth of Chicago, IL.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Alerd, Albert, and Verner Grorud, and sisters Pearl Finseth and Corraine Johnson.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2005, in Meta Trebus Memorial Chapel at Syverson Lutheran Home with Pastor Frederick C. Sauder officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home and from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Syverson Lutheran Home.\r\nThe family requests that memorials be directed to Epiphany Lutheran Church, 3031 Epiphany Lane, Eau Claire, WI 54703, the Grace Lutheran Foundation, 822 Porter Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701, or St. Josephs Hospice, 2661 County Hwy I, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.\r\n
