Hobart "Jerry" Beck, Jr., 78, of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, after suffering from a major stroke. Jerry was born April 24, 1937 in Wausau, WI to Hobart and Gertrude (Bird) Beck. He attended grade school and high school in Wausau, WI, then went on to Marquette University-WI, spent two years in the Army, and graduated from the University of WI-Madison in 1961. At the University of WI, he was a member and President at Sigma Phi Fraternity. In Seattle, WA he was employed by Wausau Insurance CO., traveling frequently to Alaska as a Claims Adjuster. He married Sandra Nikolai on May 19, 1962 in Seattle, WA where they lived for 13 years. He assumed a position at Western Causality and Surety as a Claims Supervisor. He received a promotion as a Branch Claims Manager and moved to Eau Claire, WI. He continued in this capacity until his retirement. He had a close professional relationship with R.W. Scobie Associates during these years in Eau Claire. He enjoyed his time as an adult volunteer with the Boy Scouts, and serving as an usher and past parish council member/president at Immaculate Conception Church, in Eau Claire. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra; two sons, Thomas (Betty) Beck of Huntsville, AL, and Guy (Tonya) Beck of Jordan, MN; sister, Jane Barbian of Lantana, FL; six grandchildren, Rachel, Brittany, Steven, Johnathan, Gregory Beck and Kristen DeMauro; brother-in-law Ronald Nikolai of Green Bay, WI; sister-in-law Monica (Dan) Nest, Barbara (Gary) Bohm, and Debra (Mike) Zahrt. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Monday, February 1, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, with Father Francis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire.
