Obituary

Hobert W. Hicks, 74, of 1323 Mappa Street died Saturday, January 6, 1996 at the Clairemont Nursing Facility after a long struggle with emphysema.\r\nHe was born July 23, 1921 in Superior to Hobert and Alice (Wolden) Hicks. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Radar Technician stationed at the Panama Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama from 1942 through 1946.\r\nHobert married Harriet M. Whaley on January 25, 1943 in Superior. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a carpenter and moved to Eau Claire in 1958. He retired from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire working in Facilities Management in 1982.\r\nHobert is survived by his wife, Harriet; two sons, Rod (Kathy) Hicks and Greg Hicks; three grandsons, Mark, Matthew, Adam and one granddaughter, Rebecca all of Eau Claire; three brothers, Jerome (Carol) of Superior, Wayne of Pease,MN and Dennis (Renee) of Blaine,MN.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald of South Bend,IN.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Pastor Donald C. Lindner officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.\r\nFriends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
