HOWARD J. DRAKE SR., 79, 2713 W. Princeton Ave., Eau Claire, died Thursday, January 9, 1997 at the Clairemont. He was born March 22, 1917 in Eau Claire to Frank F. And Hattie (Fedderly) Drake. Howard worked for ten years in the Eau Claire Uniroyal Plant, and for thirty years in various other countries for Uniroyal International, until retiring in 1980. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Christ, a Master Mason, and Tripoli Shrine. Howard was a volunteer Counselor for the Service Corps of Retired Executives.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Howard Jr. (Barbara) of Rock Hill,SC; a daughter, Mary (Barry) Sumner of Zionsville, IN; four grandsons and one granddaughter; 2 step-daughters, Wendy Blanchard of Eau Claire and Linda Modrall of Carmel,IN; two step-grandsons; a sister Ruth Boris of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen (Hehli) Drake, and three brothers, Clarence, Floyd, and George.\r\nGraveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor James M. Savides officiating. \r\nThe family suggests memorials be directed to First Congregational United Church of Christ.
