Nowak, 75, of Eau Claire, died on Tuesday, June 14,\r\n2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He passed peacefully in the arms\r\nof his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Lou. \r\n\r\nHe was born on January 6, 1936 in Eau Claire, to Frank and\r\nMary (Corrigan) Nowak. He served the first mass at St. James' Parish as the\r\naltar boy, since then known as the "Ting-a-ling Boy."\r\n\r\nHe graduated from Regis High School in 1954. On September\r\n27, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart. He was employed at the Eau\r\nClaire Paper Mill for 43 years and served in the Army Reserves for 10 years.\r\nHugh was also a foster parent for 8 years. \r\n\r\nIn his retirement years, he worked part time at the Albertville\r\nTavern and UdderMart Inc. He was a professional prankster. His biggest hobby\r\nwas his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed picnics, traveling, putzing in\r\nhis garage, and Sunday drives. He was loved and respected by many, and a friend\r\nto all. We were truly blessed to have him as a husband, father, grandfather,\r\nand great-grandfather.\r\n\r\nA special thank you to Trinia, Aunt Virginia, the Sacred\r\nHeart SICU and Oncology nurses, Msgr. Klimek, Chaplain Lato, Sister Monica,\r\nSister Carolyn, and Deacon Dan Rider.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Rust) Nowak; his\r\nchildren, Michael Nowak, Steven Nowak, Nancy (Kelwin) Anderson, and Patricia\r\nNowak; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jamie) Anderson, Jason Nowak, Kelsey (Trinia)\r\nAnderson, David Nowak, Luke Anderson, and Andrew Anderson; great-grandchildren,\r\nTaylar and Dylan Anderson; brothers, Francis "Bud" Nowak, Thomas (Gloria) Nowak, and John\r\n(Donna) Nowak; sister, Virginia Johnson; brother-in-law, Richard (Patricia) Rust; and\r\nmany nieces, nephews and friends.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Di\r\nPietro; brother, James Nowak; and sister-in-law, Leilah.\r\n\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday,\r\nJune 18, 2011 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th\r\nSt. Eau Claire, with Fr. John A. Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 4\r\nto 8 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814\r\nFirst Ave. Eau Claire with a Rosary Service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to\r\nMass at church. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
