Inez D. Carey, 79, of Eau Claire, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 16, 2003 at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation, rural Chippewa Falls. She was born July 2, 1923 in Barron County, the daughter of Lyle and Annette (Johnson) Speed. She graduated from Winter High School and later attended Eau Claire Vocational School.\r\nInez married Erwin J. Carey on August 30, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church.\r\nShe was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and also belonged to Women of Grace and its Circles.\r\nShe is survived by her husband Erwin; three children, Linda (Mike) Lauer of Eau Claire, Janet (Frank) Anderl of Brooklyn Center, MN and David (Nancy) of McKinney, TX; eleven grandchildren, John, Joan and Julie Anderl, Tricia (Benjamin) McCune, Rebecca (John) Flaten, Mary and David Lauer, David Christopher, Alexandra, Cassandra and Candayce Carey; three great-grandchildren, Mollie, Madisen and Simeon McCune; a sister-in-law, Dolores Speed of San Francisco, CA; a nephew, James Speed of Fremont, CA; and a niece, Annette Speed of San Francisco, CA.\r\nInez was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leslie.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church with David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at church.
