Inga E. Thoen, 88, of 1709 Rist Ave., Eau Claire, died Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at Syverson Lutheran Home after a ten year long siege with Alzheimer's disease. Inga was born on July 31, 1913, the daughter of Albert and Carrie (Shervey) Lindberg in the town of Arthur, Chippewa County, Wis. She grew up there and was baptized and confirmed at Big Drywood Lutheran Church and attended Big Drywood Creek School, all of rural Cadott, Wis.\r\nInga was employed as a waitress at Lyon's Café in Cadott for 15 years and then moved to Eau Claire in 1943 where she worked at National Pressure Cooker Co. and U.S. Rubber Co. during World War II. She was a waitress at the Hotel Eau Claire Coffee Shop and then employed with the Eau Claire Public School lunch program until her retirement.\r\nInga was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Kenneth E. Thoen whom she married on June 17, 1967 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.\r\nShe enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, working in her flower gardens, playing cards, cooking and entertaining her family and friends.\r\nShe was an inspiration of love and caring, who would put other's needs before her own. Her priority in life was her family and faith in God. She had a kind heart for animals, especially her pet poodles. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. \r\nSurvivors include her husband, Kenneth; two sisters, Myrtle (Lloyd) Tischman of Chippewa falls and Edna (Jerome) Bredesen of Eau Claire; two brothers, John Arnold Lindberg of Eau Claire and Albert (Eileen) Lindberg of Dallas, Wis.; three sisters-in-law, Ilene Lindberg of Stanley, Eileen Lindberg and Minnie Thoen both of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gertrude Zaruba and Alma Cox; and three brothers, Julius, Rudolph and Carles Lindberg.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Boe officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington. Relatives and friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. \r\n
