Iona R. Schwartz, 86, of Eau Claire died Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was born in Colfax, WI, on August 24, 1921, the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle (Fjelstad) Olson.\r\nIona married Clarence L. Schwartz in Eau Claire. They had 55 memorable years together until his passing on December 2, 1994.\r\nIona was a long time member of First Lutheran Church.\r\nShe worked at Roberts Wholesale Food Company in Eau Claire for many years prior to working as a telephone operator at Luther Hospital. She retired in 1983.\r\nFollowing retirement, Iona and Clarence lived on Lake Nelson for 13 years. They enjoyed fishing and the camaraderie of their retired friends.\r\nIona is survived by her son, Thomas (Val) Schwartz of Eau Claire; a grandson, Joe (Tracy) Schwartz of Naperville, IL; two great-grandsons, Owen and Noah of Naperville, IL; and by many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; and a brother, Laverne Olson.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at First Lutheran Church Chapel with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Family and friends may call Monday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at church.\r\n
