Obituary

IONE M. DICKENS, 77, of 840 W. MacArthur Ave., died Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at Luther Hospital. She was born October 8, 1922 to Edward and Gunda (Froseth) Swanson in Eau Claire. \r\nIone married Lester Dickens on Christmas Day, 1942 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1951, where they lived until their return to Wisconsin in 1969. They farmed in Hammond until his death in 1980. Ione then moved to Eau Claire.\r\nShe was a member of Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd. \r\nSurvivers include her mother, Gunda; four children: Lester (Dusty) Jr., Marc (Sandi), both of Las Vegas, NV, Bryan (Pamela) of Macon, GA, and Deanne (Stan) Thompson, of Wilson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Swanson of Colorado Springs, CO; three sisters, Lorraine Market of Eau Claire, Eileen Sleeper of Rialto, CA, and Joyce (David) Parker of Waunakee; aunts and uncles, including a special Aunt, Hilda Froseth; many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, and her father.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nFamily suggests memorials be directed to American Cancer Society, 2427 N.Hillcrest Parkway, or to the American Lung Association, 150 S. Sunny Slope Rd.,Brookfield, WI 53005.
