Ione M. Jacobson, 90, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek, WI. Ione was born September 8, 1921, in Chetek, WI, daughter of Calvin and Lillian (Dodge) Paulsrud. Ione attended the District 3 Country School for the Dovre and Sioux Creek areas near Chetek. When Ione was 6 years old the family moved to Eau Claire. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1939. Ione married Charles Bjerke in 1940. Together they raised four children. They divorced. She later married George Jacobson. He preceded her in death. Ione was avid at fishing and loved to spend time in her garden. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Ione`s favorite was sewing beautiful "butterfly" dresses for her girls. Ione is survived by her three children, Dona (Edward) Machnik of New Auburn, Doreen (William) Howie of Chetek, David (Vickie) Bjerke of Apple Valley, MN; daughter-in-law, Janet Bjerke of Eau Claire; a sister, Corrine (Duttee) Holmes of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Susan, Steven, Thomas, Kira, Douglas, Daniel, Shelia, Malinda, Gordon, Victoria, David, Jill and Kyle; 49 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.She is also survived by three step-children, Connie (Ron) Lund of Eau Claire, Susan (Phillip) Fabry of Niceville, FL and Steve Jacobson of Eau Claire; step-grandchildren, Kim, Angel, Kevin, Kris, Clay, Josh, Tracy, Casey, Jason, Sherri and Steven; 19 step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great grandchild. Ione is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ione was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Douglas Bjerke; 2 sisters, Virginia Picotte and Elizabeth VanEpps; and step-daughter, Debra Strehlo. Funeral Services for Ione will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Our Savior`s Lutheran Church, 1310 Main Street in Eau Claire with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. up until the time of services at 12 noon.Internment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire.
