Irene B. Brown, age 94, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Orchard Hills in Eau Claire. Irene was born in Chippewa Falls, WI, on May 11, 1922, the daughter of Simon and Marie (Kleven) Sandvick. She grew up on the family farm and attended Stillson School, a one room grade school. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School with the Class of 1940. Irene married Clifford C. Brown on July 8, 1944, at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. They were married for 49 years. He preceded her in death in 1994. Irene was a Charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and its Rachel Circle and bible study. She worked at the Health Care Center as a nursing assistant for a brief time. She loved gardening, flowers and the great outdoors; God's beautiful creation! Irene spent most of her time with her husband and family going to the cabin and fishing. She said "I think the thing I am most proud of in my life is my family." Irene is survived by her children, Susan Braatz, Sally (Gil) Liddell, and Charles (Jan Boehm) Brown; eight grandchildren, Kim Quealy, Lisa (DeLloyd) Miller, Dan (Margarita) Braatz, Michael (Heidi) Braatz, Shane (Amber) Liddell, Stacie (Steve) Masanz, Sarah (Mike) Tews, Ashley (Ross) Koffarnus; 14 great-grandchildren, Emily (Ryan), Shane, Grace, Emma, Marcella, Rebecca, Douglas, Abigail, Samantha, Jackson, Colton, Sandvik, Vivian, Archer, and a baby due on May 12; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her parents; son-in-law, Gordy Braatz; three sisters, Gudrun Johnson, Christina Bleskachek and Ruth Pedersen; and three brothers, Arthur, Gilbert and Norman Sandvick. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Saving Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Home Health and Hospice and Orchard Hills for the wonderful care of their mother.
