IRENE J. THOMPSON, 81, of 1521 Bellevue Ave., died Monday, October 12, 1998 at Luther Hospital. She was born on May 9, 1917 in Eau Claire to Robert and Jesse (Baker) Hotchkiss. Irene married Russel W. Thompson in Eau Claire on February 5, 1939, and lived for several years in the Boyceville area before returning to Eau Claire in 1952.\r\nShe was a life long member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.\r\nSurvivors include, two sons, David (Lynn) of Fridley, Minn., and Thomas of Elkhart, Ind.; two daughters, Barbara (Kenneth) Sanderson of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Janice Thompson of Dubuque, Iowa; three grandchildren, Charles Sanderson of Portland, Ore., Nichole Thompson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Karen Sanderson of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Lois Baumann of Aurora, Ill., and a brother, Warren Hotchkiss of Eau Claire.\r\nIrene was preceded in death by her husband, Russel on October 17, 1994; her parents; two sisters, Vera Kleiner and Mildred Zenner; five brothers, Glenn Billett, and Robert, Lyman, Lyle and Wayne Hotchkiss; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel D. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church. \r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the organ fund at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
