Irene S. Lisker, 94, of Eau Claire, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at Colfax Health & Rehabilitation Center, Colfax, WI. She was born in Eleva, WI on December 23, 1919, one of six children, to Nels and Barbo (Strand) Nelson. Irene graduated from Eleva High School and after graduation came to Eau Claire, where she worked as a live-in housekeeper. In 1940, Irene met Ernest Lisker at a dance at Fournier's Ball Room; they married on October 3, 1942, in Eleva. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom to three daughters: Alice, Barbara, and Connie. Ernie always joked that when they got to D, Irene said "DONE". Irene enjoyed flowers and gardening, traveling, camping, fishing, and, of course, dancing to old time music. Irene is survived by her three daughters, Alice (Tom) Piercy of Eau Claire, Barbara (Charles) Stasek of Spring Hill, FL; Connie (Ron) Tuschl of Colfax; five grandchildren, John Piercy of Minneapolis, MN, Jeffrey Piercy of Sun Prairie, WI, Paul (Jennifer) Langer of Broomfield, CO, Christine (Tim) Farmer of Columbus, OH, and Chad (Alexandria) Pucik of Orlando, FL; and seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin, William, and Samuel Langer, Nathalie and Michael Farmer, Matthew and Josh Toro. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest in 2005; three sisters, Bertha VanPelt, Bernice Knudsen and Esther Thompson; and two brothers, Tyler and Irven Nelson. Visitation will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Private Graveside Services at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Colfax Health & Rehabilitation for the wonderful care given to Irene during her stay.
