IRENE L. NELSON, 83, of Eau Claire, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born on March 3, 1918 to John and Tena (Hanson) Ahneman in Eau Claire.\r\nShe married James H. Nelson on December 31, 1937 in Eau Claire. \r\nFollowing his death in 1960 she earned a bachelor's degree from UW- Eau Claire and a master's degree in psychiatric social work at UW-Madison. She worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Madison and then went into private practice in Kenosha. After retiring in1978 she returned to Eau Claire.\r\nShe is survived by her son, James (Sandra) Nelson of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Sheila (Steve) Nelson-Seybold, Shari (Tom) Hougan, Tina (Allen) Larson, Robert (Donna) Webb and Irene Webb; thirteen great-grand children; many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Webb; and her ten brothers and sisters, Roy, Vera, Wilfred, Wally, Fern, Evelyn, Jack, Everett, Laverne and Spencer. \r\nGraveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2001 at Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home. \r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Syverson Lutheran Home.
