Irving "Tom" T. Franson, 91, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Clearwater Care Center, formerly the Clairemont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Eau Claire. Tom was born in Eau Claire on September 20, 1925, a son of Alfred and Minnie (Johnson) Franson. He served in the US Army during WWII in Japan. After his honorable discharge, he married Katheryne M. Kriesel on August 27, 1955, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Tom worked at Uniroyal Inc. and Franson & McLaughlin Builders. Tom was known for his work ethic, his willingness to help others when they needed it and his skills as a builder. He loved building his camper-bus and anything that had to do with old cars or motorcycles. He made rocking horses, sleds, toy boxes and even wooden barbells for his grandchildren. Tom played Home Talent baseball for Eleva for many years and later played with his children and grandchildren. He is truly one of God's children and even though we know he is in Heaven, we'll really miss him. Tom is survived by his wife, Katheryne "Katie"; three sons, Brian (Bonnie) Franson of Arlington, WI, Keith (Jolene) Franson of Osseo, and Mark (Karen) of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Wesley, Thomas, Carrie, Erin, Lauren and Amanda; nephew, Marvin (Lori) Franson; and niece, Donna (Craig) Hitchens. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Arnold (Viola) Franson. Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at the West Chapel of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post 53. Tom's family would like to thank the Clearwater Care Center (Clairemont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center) for their excellent care and love shown to Katheryne's husband and our father.
