Iva M. Wittwer, 89, formerly of 913 James St., Eau Claire, died Friday, May 19, 2006, at Dove Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born on January 26, 1917, to Anton and Hannah (Ellertson) Sather in Charlson, N.D.\r\nThe family moved to Wisconsin in 1924 and settled in Drammen Township, where she grew up on a farm. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Drammen Lutheran Church. Upon graduation from Mondovi High School with the class of 1935, Iva moved to Duluth, Minnesota and worked for two years for the Condon's Estates. \r\nShe moved back to Eau Claire and married Alfred Wittwer on June 23, 1937. They were married for 50 years. Alfred died on July 17, 1987. To this union three sons were born. Iva returned to further her education in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 50, and became a certified occupational therapist. She was employed at Sacred Heart Hospital until retiring in 1981. Iva is survived by her sons, Darrell (Lois) and Robert (Sonja) Wittwer, both of Eau Claire, and Dale Wittwer of Lakewood, CO; five grandchildren, Carrie (Larry) Simmons of Eleva, Brad (Jakki) Wittwer of Spooner, Steven (Joni) Wittwer of Holmen, Amber Wittwer of Edwards, CO, and Jessica Wittwer of New York; two great-grandsons, Cole and Seth Wittwer of Holmen; two great-granddaughters, Leah and Brooke Wittwer, both of Spooner; a sister, Irene Sieg of Siren; sister-in-law, Verna Sather of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Mickey Wittwer; and many nieces and nephews\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Michael Wittwer; brother, Roy Sather; sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Norm Johnson; and brother-in-law Ervin Sieg.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests that memorials be directed to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd building fund.\r\n
