Jack R. Long, 59, of Eau Claire died peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at his home.\r\nHe was born in Gladstone, MI on July 25, 1948, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Peterson) Long. In 1966, he graduated from Escanaba High School and went on to Northland College in Ashland, WI.\r\nJack served in the United States Army enlisting on May 9, 1968, in Minneapolis, MN. He served his country in Alaska until the time of his honorable discharge on April 28, 1970, in Fort Louis, WA. He attended school at UW Eau Claire where he met and married Kathleen M. Sirianni on February 26, 1972, at Sacred Heart Chapel in Eau Claire. They were richly blessed with three precious sons.\r\nJack proudly worked as a school bus driver for Student Transit, Inc. of Eau Claire for over 24 years. Parents always knew their children were in good hands when Jack was on the job. His students will long remember his great sense of humor, kindness, and singing ability. \r\nJack was active in his children's lives devoting many years to coaching hockey, baseball, football, and soccer. Jack enjoyed sharing his ability and love of many activities including ping pong, skiing, and golf. \r\nJack completed the Lay Ministry program for the Diocese of La Crosse in 1987 and spent many years leading prayer services at Oakwood Villa. \r\nJack was devoted to his family and will be sorely missed by his wife, Kathy; sons, Ryan (Dena) of Waunakee, and Andrew (Bridget) of Madison and their daughter Clare Margaret; his parents, Raymond and Dorothy of Osage Beach, MO; a sister, Janet (Dale) Horchner of Osage Beach, MO; a brother, Jerry of CO; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his son, Keith Raymond in 1986; and his grandparents. \r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at St. Olaf Catholic Church with celebrant Father Brian Konopa. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Eau Claire, with Military Rites conducted by VFW Post #53. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home.\r\n
