Obituary

James A. "Jim" Ausman, 57, of Tomah, and formerly of Eau Claire, died Saturday, September 19, 2009, in Eau Claire. He was born in Eau Claire on July 22, 1952, a son of Joseph and Hazel (Smith) Ausman. Jim attended St. Patrick Elementary School and Memorial High School\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1971 and was honorably discharged in August 1973. Jim enlisted in the National Guard in November 1985 and was honorably discharged in May 1999. \r\nHe was a cook at the Wisconsin Military Academy and Army Reserve dining facility at Fort McCoy. \r\nHe was an avid Brewers, Packer and Badgers fan. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends. \r\nJim is survived by a son, Chris Kowahl of Chippewa Falls, his father, Joseph (Marion) Ausman of Eau Claire; four brothers, Paul (Raquel) Ausman of Chippewa Falls, Larry (Deb) Ausman, Roger (Jeri Ann Anderson) Ausman, and John (Lisa) Ausman all of Eau Claire; three sisters, Pat (Doug) Wall, Karen (Greg) Stanton both of Eau Claire, and Deb (Steve) Brey of Neillsville; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Ausman; and a brother, Steve Ausman.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St., Eau Claire with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Elk Mound. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. There will be a 7 p.m. Public Prayer Service Tuesday at the funeral home.
