James "Jim" C. Cornell, 69, of Fall Creek, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012, at his home. He was born on December 12, 1942, in Eau Claire, to Claude and Lois (Heiderman) Cornell. Jim attended school in Altoona and graduated with the class of 1961. After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army. While in the service, Jim went to Mechanic's school, and worked on all types of military vehicles while serving in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Jim married Linda Whiteside in 1965. He then went to work for Uniroyal Tire Company until the plant closed in 1992. Jim then went back to school for truck driving and got a job working for Lake Pepin Fisheries, where he hauled fish to New York City. After retirement, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was also an active member in the Fall Creek Lions Club. Jim is survived by his two sons; Mike (Cheryl) and Brian Cornell, both of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Joseph (Megan) and Nichole Cornell; two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Jenna; mother, Lois; and brother-in-law, Tom Nelson. He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Judith Nelson. Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland, Ave., in Eau Claire with Pastor Nathan Aaseng officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
