Obituary

James E. Gagnon, 74, of 1823 Lyndale Ave., Eau Claire, died Sunday, June 16, 2002 at his home. He was born on March 1, 1928 in Two Rivers, WI to Norman and Martha (Statler) Gagnon. Jim graduated from Two Rivers High School and lettered in both football and swimming.\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 17, 1946, served with the Military Police in Japan, and was honorably discharged on May 21, 1948. Jim attended UW-Madison graduating with a degree in economics in 1952. He married Monica Walter on August 2, 1952 at St. Patrick's Church in Eau Claire. Jim was a sales representative at Walter Brewing Company and Land O'Lakes, and later an insurance agent until his retirement.\r\nJim was a member of the Eau Claire Lions Club for over twenty years. His interests included woodworking, oil painting, remodeling and watching Notre Dame Football.\r\nSurvivors include his wife of 50 years, Monica; seven children, James (Paula) of Eau Claire, Mary Ellen Gagnon of Poynette, Paul of Los Angeles, CA, Robert (Justin) of Santa Monica, CA, Peter (Nidy Scott) of Palmdale, CA, Michael (Jennifer) of Maui, HI and Patrick (Ida Yellowman) of Puyallup, WA; ten grandchildren; brother, Mark (Alice) Gagnon of Manitowoc; two aunts, Bernice Flynn and Mary Statler both of Townsend, WI; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David M. Gagnon in 1983; and three sisters, Audrey Weber, Esther Lane and Bernice Luebke.\r\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002 at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Eugene A. Klink officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. A public rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be directed to St. Joseph's Hospice or Birthright.
