Obituary

JAMES ELDON HEIMSTEAD, 66, of Burnsville, Minnesota, died Saturday, January 8, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.\r\nHe was born September 20, 1933 to Frank F. and Mable (Lee) Heimstead in Eau Claire. James graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School and earned a BSEE Degree from University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1960. He served two years in the Wisconsin National Guard (32nd Infantry Division) and enlisted four years in the U.S. Navy (March '51 - March '56). He received an honorable Discharge in 1956 as an SO1. James joined Control Data Corporation as manager in the Energy Management Systems Division in Minnesota during 1961 and remained with them until his retirement in 1998.\r\nHe was a member of the American Legion Post #435 in Richfield, MN and a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1296 of Bloomington, MN.\r\nJames is survived by his son, Matthew James Heimstead of Woodbury, MN; three brothers, Douglas A., Lamoine E., and William R.; a sister, Irene Elaine Heimstead all of Eau Claire; and confidant, Chung Chi Nakamitsu of Apple Valley,MN. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents. \r\nMemorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Brent L. Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
