James E. Hobart, 90, of Eau Claire died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Our House Assisted Living in Eau Claire. He was born on March 16, 1913 in Fairchild, Wisconsin, the son of James and Lillie (Greene) Hobart. Jim married Virginia M. Moores in Eau Claire on February 19, 1943.He entered the U.S. Army on June 26, 1943 serving in the European Theater. Jim was honorably discharged on Dec. 26, 1946. He worked at Uniroyal for 38 years until his retirement in 1973. Survivors include his son, James Hobart of Mineral Wells, TX; two nephews, Steven (Cindy) Moores of Eau Claire and David (Pamela) Moores of Westminster, CO; a niece, Barbara (Steve) Zempel of Eau Claire; four grand nieces, Kristie (Stephen) Matthaei and Tracy Moores of Eau Claire, Alysia and Becky Moores of Colorado; a grand nephew, Clayton Moores of Colorado; a great grand nephew, Teagan Matthaei and two great grand nieces, Tayler and Kortnie Matthaei all of Eau Claire; and two sisters-in-law, Joan Moores and Yvonne Moores both of Eau Claire.Jim was preceded in death by; wife, Virginia in 1997; and his parents. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 at First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Mark Pirazzini officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends may call an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
