Obituary

James "Jim" E. Krahn, 79, of Eau Claire died suddenly Wednesday, October 23, 2002. He was born in Eau Claire on January 27, 1923 the son of Carl and Laura (Olson) Krahn. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a Waist Gunner on a B17, and flew 35 missions.\r\nJim married Delores A. Churchward in Chetek, Wisconsin on July 26, 1946. His career as a tool and die maker started at National Presto Industries in Eau Claire and he retired from Honeywell in Golden Valley, MN in 1988.\r\nSurvivors include his wife Delores, three daughters, Diane Rider of Mpls, Carol (Ralph) Ring of Rice Lake and Melody (Ernie) Lannigan of Eau Claire; two sons, Jeff (Janet) and Rick (Deb) both of Eau Claire; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond of Carlsbad, CA; and sister, Doris Thompson of Mpls.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles.\r\nJim was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.\r\nJim was always eager to learn new things and had many interests. He spent numerous hours on his computer and, weather permitting, enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He was also an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis and enjoyed morning coffee with his retired friends.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Boe officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
