James "Jim" G. Linstedt, age 59, of Eau Claire, died of a tragic accident in Chippewa Falls, WI, on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. He was born on November 16, 1954, in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Eugene and Matilda (Kiraly) Linstedt. He married Jane Stone on September 28, 1985. Jim graduated from Stanley/Boyd High School and went on to receive various degrees from Chippewa Valley Technical College and attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He worked at Hutchinson Technology for many years and prior to that worked at Cray Research. Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and friend. His children were the light of his life and he enjoyed watching them grow and shaping them into the fine adults they have become. Jim was a "Jack-of-All-Trades" not only did he build his family's home from the ground up, he could fix anything and always offered a helping hand. He had a unique sense of humor and loved to tell a joke and kid around. Jim was an active member of the Chippewa Valley Amateur Radio Club, call sign W9ZUC, where he served as club president for two years. He always looked forward to Saturday morning coffee with his radio friends. Jim was proud that he rode in the RAGBRAI bike race across the state of Iowa. Jim is survived by his wife of almost 29 years, Jane; daughter, Sara (Fiancé, Dan Castle); son, Michael Linstedt; sisters, Linda Linstedt, Karen (Steve) Danczak and Sharron Zschernitz; brother, Eugene (Yvonne) Linstedt; brother-in-law, Mark (Mary) Stone; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; and his pet dog, Abbie, also known as Schnookie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Matilda Linstedt; brother, Timothy Linstedt; and father and mother-in-law, Jerome and Bernadine Stone. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lenmark- Gomsrud-Linn-Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Church. Pastor Christine Emerson will be officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire.
