James Kenneth Moravek, 66, of Eau Claire and formerly of Minier, IL, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 22, 2009.\r\nJim was born November 30, 1942, in St Louis, Missouri, the son of James and Lucille (Duval) Moravek.\r\nHe was a graduate of Regis High School of Eau Claire, WI and Illinois Wesleyan University.Jim entered the Army in 1967 and was one of the select number of draftees to ever be assigned as a Drill Sergeant. He was chosen the distinguished graduate of his Drill Sergeant Class of June 1968. \r\nJim enjoyed watching all sports, particularly the Chicago Cubs and Bradley Braves. He loved fishing, wood carving and spending time with his grandchildren. His contagious smile and laugh will be greatly missed.\r\nJim is survived by his daughter, Carla (Jeff) Fogler of Minier, IL; son, Courtney Moravek of Champaign, IL; three grandchildren, Chelsea Fogler, Brieaunna Stewart and Keaton Fogler; three sisters, Peggy Ireton of Sycamore, IL, Jeannette Crumbaugh of Joliet, IL, and Rosemary (Steve) Miles of Eau Claire, WI; and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceeded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joanne Lester. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009, at Minier Christian Church, 405 E. Stringtown Rd., Minier, IL, with The Rev. Norv Condy officiating.
