O'Connor, 61, of Eau Claire, died on Friday, July\r\n15, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 23, 1949, in Jersey City,\r\nNJ to James and Ann O'Connor. \r\n\r\n He attended St. Peter's Preparatory School in Jersey City,\r\nNJ, graduating in 1967, and College of Holy Cross, Worcester, MA graduating\r\nwith a bachelor's of science degree in 1971. \r\n\r\n\r\n Jim married Colleen A. Condon in Harrison, NJ, on August 7,\r\n1971 \r\n\r\n He attended Georgetown University School of Medicine,\r\ngraduating with his M.D. in 1975. \r\n\r\nJim completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at\r\nDartmouth College and Newington Children's Hospital in 1980. Upon completion of his residency he began his\r\nOrthopedic Practice in Marshfield, WI. \r\nJim practiced in Marshfield until 1984 when he began his practice at the\r\nMidelfort Clinic. He practiced at Midelfort until his retirement in 2010.\r\n\r\n He was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic\r\nSurgeons, the American Medical Society, Wisconsin State Medical Society and the\r\nWisconsin Orthopedic Society. He was\r\nalso a member of Alpha Omega Alpha.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nJim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Colleen; three\r\nchildren and their spouses, Rod and Molly O'Connor, and Katie and Travis Olives\r\nof Mpls, MN, and Tim and Carlee O'Connor\r\nof Madison, WI; nine grandchildren,\r\nJames, Gabi, Dylan, Sean, Amelia, Jameson, Katelyn, and twins Clara and Maria; his mother, Ann O'Connor of Jersey City, NJ;\r\nsister, Elizabeth (Steven) Tomaszeski of Leonardtown, MD; brother, Thomas\r\n(Dorothy) O'Connor of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\n He was preceded in death by his father, James J. O'Connor. \r\n\r\n His family would like to thank the Cancer Center Nursing\r\nStaff at Luther Midelfort for their compassion and care during Jim's illness,\r\nand Dr. Gopakumar Nambudiri at Luther Midelfort, and Dr. Susan Hayman at Mayo\r\nClinic / Rochester for their excellent medical care and advice. His family\r\nwould also like to thank the Mayo Health System Hospice nurses for their\r\nkindness and care during the last stage of Jim's illness.\r\n\r\n A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m.\r\non Saturday, July 23, 2011, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. in Eau\r\nClaire with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Burial will be held on a later\r\ndate at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN. Visitation will be from 4\r\nto 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation\r\nServices, WEST CHAPEL LOCATION, at\r\n1405 N. Clairemont Ave., and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nThere will be a 7 p.m. public Vigil Prayer Service followed by a sharing of\r\nmemories by his family, Friday at the funeral home.\r\n\r\n In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorials are\r\ndirected to the Georgetown University School of Medicine Financial Aid\r\nEndowment Fund in memory of James J.
