Obituary

James "Jim" "Moose" Charles Pittman, 53, of Chetek and Eau Claire, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his lake home in Chetek, WI.\r\nJim was born in Durand, WI, on October 18, 1957, a son of Kenneth and Arlene (Heitz) Pittman. Jim lived in Durand until the age of 12, when his family moved to Eau Claire. He graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School with the Class of 1975. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He went to boot camp in Orlando, FL, then Corpsman School in San Diego, CA. He was stationed in Oakland, CA. Jim loved working with and helping all the patients of the various hospitals he was assigned to. Following his Navy career, Jim attended University of Wisconsin-Stout and studied Hotel-Restaurant Management. Jim worked for Marriot's, Great America and Pizza Hut. \r\nHe was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Organization and the John F. Kennedy Council #1257 Knights of Columbus.\r\nJim was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewer and Wisconsin Badger fan. His biggest thrill was seeing "his" Packers win another Super Bowl.\r\nOn October 8, 2000, Jim met the love of his life, his wife, Mary. They were united in marriage on August 25, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand. Their dream was to live on the lake in Chetek, which they saw come true, 4 ½ years ago.\r\nJim loved to fish, boat and golf. He was an avid animal lover, taking pride in his beloved cats, Spencer I and Spencer II. He loved all sports and could rattle off sports stats and info at any moment. He forgot more sports facts than the average fan ever knew.\r\nJim was always the first one with a joke or funny story. He was also first to offer a prayer or blessing to anyone at anytime. Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, so we are at peace knowing he is home in heaven and is not suffering anymore. Through it all, Jim remained positive and offered it all up to God, knowing He had a divine plan.\r\nJim was so proud of all the accomplishments of Shaun and Sammy Girl, and would tell all he encountered about them and what they were up to in school and sports.\r\nJim was especially proud to be featured on the cover of the latest issue of Hometown Health.\r\nJim is survived by his wife, Mary of Chetek; beloved cat, Spencer II; adopted children, Shaun and Samantha (Sammy Girl) Robotka of Chetek; two brothers, Jim (Debbie) Robotka of Chetek and Bruce (Becky) Jepperson of Eau Claire; three sisters, Patricia Kurani and Margaret Pittman, both of St. Louis, MO, and Susan Pittman, of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, James Dittloff of Cambridge, WI; niece, Miki Dittloff; nephew, Matthew Dittloff; great-niece, Ella; aunt, Bernice (Loren) Skoug; uncle, Eldon Pittman; and cousins, as well as many special friends and neighbors, especially, Jayne Brick. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Jeanette Pittman; brother, Ronald, in infancy; sister, Donna Dittloff; and his precious Spencer I, the wonder cat. \r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Ave., in Eau Claire with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Burial will be at Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery in Beaver Brook Township. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. The public and Knights of Columbus will hold a Prayer Vigil at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.\r\nA Special Thank You to Dr. William Maierhafer, Nephrology and Dialysis Department of Mayo Health Systems, in Barron and Eau Claire, your care and concern gave Jim a better quality of life for the past few years. \r\nGod Bless You All!
