Janet A. Stewart, 66, of W15133 Bear Lake Road, Chetek, Wisconsin, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Sacred Heart Hospital after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born on February 25, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Swan and Korin (Magnusson) Anderson.\r\nJanet graduated from Lakeview High School in Chicago and the University of Illinois, where she received her degree in Occupational Therapy. She later went back to school and received her teaching certificate. She was employed at Easter Seal Center and River Bluff Nursing Home both in Rockford, Illinois. Janet later taught elementary education at Evergreen School and became one of the remedial reading supervisors for the Rockford School system.\r\nShe married David S. Stewart on September 23, 1961 in Rockford, Illinois.\r\nAfter her retirement in 1991 Janet and her husband moved from Rockford to their summer home at Pine Lake. She was an active member of the Bloomer Garden Club, Gregerson Chapter of Homemakers Club and Pine Lake Home Owners Association in Chetek. Janet was interested in nature, wildlife and all forms of gardening. \r\nSurvivors include her husband David; two brothers, Swan Oscar (Elfriede) Anderson of Pocahontas, Iowa and Floyd Anderson of Rockford, Illinois; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Carey Anderson of Rockford.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents.\r\nA memorial service will be held this summer at Pine Lake with times to be announced later.\r\nMemorials to Barron County Humane Society, Noah's Ark or American Cancer Society.
