Janice Ruth Hollingsworth, 67 of Elk Mound, died suddenly at home on October 4, 2005. She was born in Bessemer, Michigan on July 12, 1938 to Emil and Eleanor (Shay) Kaanta.\r\nShe moved to Elk Mound in 1953 with her family and attended Elk Mound High School graduating in 1956 She then attended St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing until 1959 when she earned her Registered Nursing diploma.\r\nJanice married Lawrence Hollingsworth on February 16, 1961 at Northwood, Iowa and later lived in St. Paul, Minnesota where she worked as a nurse at several area hospitals.\r\nSurviving are Larry, her husband of 44 years; two children, Steven and (Connie) of Elk Mound and Susan (Verlyn) Kraayenbrink of Jefferson, South Dakota; a step son Brett Kraayenbrink; two sisters, Charlotte Spellacy of Gainesville, Florida, and Gayle (Douglas) Bradley of Ripon, Wisconsin, a Brother John and (Jackie) Kaanta of Elk Mound; three grandchildren, Kayla Hollingsworth, Cole Hollingsworth and Nicholas Kraayenbrink and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe is preceded in death by her father, Emil, her mother, Eleanor, and one sister, Bernice Ann.\r\nJanice was a beautiful singer and sang both as a soloist and with her church choir for more than 40 years. She will be missed so much by everyone who knew her most especially by her children and her husband.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2005, at First Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
