Obituary

Janice K. Knudtson, 69, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Luther Hospital.She was born in Eau Claire on April 30, 1939, a daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Haug) Woodford. \r\nJanice married Harold L. Knudtson on December 15, 1956 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nShe worked 31 years at National Presto Industries, and over 13 years at Sams Club until her retirement in 2006.\r\nJanice was a member and volunteer at First Lutheran Church, and a member of Chippewa Valley Eagles Club #2213 Auxiliary.\r\nHer family and friends cherished her home cooked meals, many of which reflected her Norwegian heritage. Baking and cooking were her labors of love. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. \r\nJanice is survived by her husband, Harold; three daughters, Tamara Knudtson of Eau Claire, Judith (Michael) Amato of Windermere, FL, and Barbara (Kelly) Downing of Lake Forest, CA;eleven grandchildren, Scott (Brooke Johnson) Brantner, Lindsey (Lucas) Schultz, Mike, Danielle, Grant, Megan, and Taylor Amato, and Samantha Weed, Kristopher, Kory, and Madison Downing; two brothers, Curt (Connie) Woodford and Dennis (Julie) Woodford both of Eau Claire; her sister, Sue (Mike) Gales of Eau Claire; her step-mother, Victoria Woodford of Eau Claire; three sisters-in-law, LaDonna Mahder and Marjorie (Thomas) Knickerbocker both Eau Claire, and Jody Knudtson of Racine; her brother-in-law, Harvey Julson of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews; and former sons-in-law, Richard Brantner of Eau Claire, Rory Voss of Colorado, and Tom King of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Lawrence Knudtson; a sister, Judy Woodford; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Knudtson and Robert Mahder; sister-in-law, Shirley Julson; and former son-in-law, Kevin Weed.\r\n"Janice touched so many lives with her kindness and love"\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
