Jay Cullen Long of Chippewa Falls passed away suddenly after a brief illness on August 17, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Jay was born on April 10, 1960, to Dale and Shirley (Hanson) Long. He attended high school in De Soto, WI. Following his graduation from DeVry University, Jay worked for 27 years as a software engineer at Cray Research and SGI. Jay had four loving children with his former wife, Mary Knight. Jay was passionate about the outdoors which he often explored in Wisconsin. He loved gardening, bee keeping, camping and travel. He loved adventure. Jay was also an incredible chef who frequently cooked a variety of dishes from around the world to share with his family and friends. Jay was funny, witty and nurturing. Most of all, he will be remembered for his kind smile, sense of humor and selflessness - a lover of people and the Lord. He supported not only the local community but non-profit organizations around the world. He was the best father ever and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Jay is survived by his fiancée, Carolyn "Kate" Mork; his children, Jessica (Zachary) Andress, Austin Long, Cory Long and Rachel Long; his father, Dale (Alice) Long; brother, Jeff (Karen) Long; mother of his children, Mary Knight; nieces, nephews and many friends. Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Long. A celebration of Jay's life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 4 to 7pm at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, WI.
