Jean A. Eckhoff, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Orchard Hills Assisted Living in Eau Claire with her family by her side. Jean was born on December 17, 1927, in Appleton, WI to Forrest and Helen (Markert) McCormick. Jean married Edward "Pete" Eckhoff on June 10, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Prentice, WI. She worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Company and continued to volunteer her time at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, and the Telephone Pioneers after retirement. Jean enjoyed ceramics and other crafts. She loved being outside and spending time with her family. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Jean is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Larry) King of Prattville, AL, Terri (Karl) Eckhoff-Dinger of Eau Claire, and Mary Eckhoff of Bloomingdale, IL; son, Thomas (Lucie) Eckhoff of Chetek; one sister, Ruth (Earl) Hellmann of Sturgeon Bay, WI; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward "Pete" Eckhoff; son, Timothy; her parents; four brothers; and one sister. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will take place at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
