Obituary

Jean C. Lewis, 53 of 4110 W. Folsom Street died Wednesday, June 27, 1996, at her home from illness with cancer. She was born September 18, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Frances (Melcher) Hart. She received her BA in Business Administration at UW-Eau Claire in 1984. Jean married Kenneth A. Lewis in Eau Claire on January 14, 1961. She worked fifteen years at UWEC McIntyre Library until her medical retirement in September 18, 1992. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, a Chair of its Social Concerns Committee and active volunteer for Community Table, a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America, and a 4 H Leader. Jean had many hobbies including a red belt in karate, ceramics and traveling.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Ken; a son, William (Mary-Pat)Barnett-Lewis of Madison; two daughters, Elizabeth of Lodi and Stephanie of Eau Claire; her father, George Hart of Black River Falls; three brothers Jack (Barb) Cleasby of Eau Claire, Joseph (Sharon) Cleasby of Eleva, Jeff Cleasby of Osseo; three sisters, Donna (AL) Huff of Glencoe, MN, Janet(Chuck) Hagg of Eau Claire, and Margaret (Dave) Bauman of Baraboo.\r\nJean was preceded in death by her mother.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Father Charles Hiebl officiating. Burial will be Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 P.M. Friday (Today) at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 P.M Friday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Literacy Volunteers of America or Community Table
