Jean A. Nemitz, age 57 of Eau Claire, died peacefully with her loving husband by her side on September 6, 2012, after her short battle with cancer at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Jean was born in Eau Claire, WI on August 20, 1955, to Waldemar and Mildred (French) Mai. She graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1973. She earned her associates degree from CVTC graduating in 1975. She married Russell Nemitz on December 6, 1974. Jean worked at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, for 38 years, retiring as a Library Associate I in 2010. Jean enjoyed camping with her husband and many friends. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint, pets and also reading books. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Jean spent many hours volunteering her time with the churches she attended throughout her life and made many handcrafted donations to local charities. Jean is preceded in death by her father and sister, Mary Gilbert. Jean is survived by her husband, Russell; children, Benjamin (Gwen) and Russell II (Debra); grandchildren, Zachery, Megan, Brett, Andrew and Dominik; Mother, Mildred; sisters, Cora (Gary) Klawiter and Lois Mai; and brother-in-law, Brad Gilbert; along with many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 North Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar Street, Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Gerd Bents will be officiating. Interment will be in Knapp Cemetery, Jackson County WI, on September 28, 2012, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family so they may make donations in her name, to charities that were close to her heart.
