Jean D. Wheeler, 85, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on December 3, 2014, at Dove Healthcare West, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Eau Claire on November 27, 1929, daughter of Lester and Margaret (Skatvold) Olson. Jean married Wallace D. Wheeler on August 23, 1952, in Eau Claire, WI and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Jean was a city girl who grew to love farm life. She and her husband raised chickens and Jean was the "General Farm Superintendent", a title given to her by her husband, Wally. Jean is survived by two daughters, Paula (Randy) Sparling of Burnsville, MN and Amy (Tim) Benedict of Eau Claire; son, Kent "Wally" (Mary) Wheeler of Eau Claire; two grandsons, Tony (Andrea) and Lucas (Courtney) Benedict both of Eau Claire; two granddaughters, Rebecca Sparling of Farmington, MN and Kelsey (Chris) Kimpston of Woodbury, MN; great-granddaughter, Emelia Benedict; step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Daniel, and Angie Rossi; two brothers-in-law, Manley (Marvel) Wheeler of Lakeville, MN and Robert Wheeler of Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Wallace; infant son, Kent; and sister-in-law, Norma Wheeler. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd. in Eau Claire with Pastor Kurt M. Jacobson officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Jean's family thanks the staff at Dove Health Care Center for providing over four years of loving care to their mother. Memorials are preferred to Dove Healthcare West or Bob's House for Dogs.
