Jeanette E. (Hanson Amundson) Fremstad, 83, died Friday, January 25, 2002 at Luther Hospital. She was born August 30, 1918 in Kilbourne, Wisconsin, to Elmer and Mabel (Thompson) Hanson. Her mother died when Jeanette was 18 months so she was raised by her Aunt Emma Amundson, as one of her six girls.Jeanette graduated from Whitehall High School in 1936. Her beautiful singing voice was heard at many weddings and church services.\r\nOn December 16, 1939, Jeanette married Glenn W. Fremstad, in the parsonage at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls. They lived on the home farm until moving to Eau Claire in 1941. Jeanette first worked at a neighborhood grocery store and then clerked at J.C. Penney's for 23 years until her retirement.\r\nShe was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Glenn; son, Albert (Mary Lee) of Chetek and daughter, Gloria (Lowell) Colbus of Edina, Minn.; three grandchildren, Eran Colbus of Lewiston, New York, Heath (Amy) Fremstad and Melissa Fremstad both of Eau Claire; two sisters, Dorothy (Elmer) Pfertsh of Thornton, Colorado and Gudrun Hermenau of Beaulah, Michigan; a half-brother, Oliver (Inez) Tofson of Wisconsin Dells and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Gladys Begley, Lillian Paine, Arlene Landsteiner, and Esther Haggerty; and a half-sister, Dora Knoebel.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday January 28, 2002, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Pigeon Falls. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
