Jeanette Frances Mickelson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin departed this life on January 1, 2007 in the 85th year of her age. Jeanette was born on August 22, 1921 in the Town of Wilson, County of Dunn. She was the oldest daughter of Edna (Daniels) and Christian Christopherson of rural Ridgeland. Jeanette married Wesley W. Mickelson on July 24, 1943 in Prairie Farm, living most of their married life in Tomah, Wisconsin. Jeanette was an early and avid reader. Her wonderful vocabulary, humor and background knowledge on a variety of topics inspired great conversation with family and friends. She enjoyed the artistry of cooking to the delight of family and friends as well. One of Jeanette's other gifts was caring for children. In addition to caring for her own grandchildren, for 28 years, Jeanette was blessed to be a "Nana" to many other children. She was a charter member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah; after moving to Eau Claire in 1979, she joined the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Wes, in 1965; parents; and siblings; three brothers, Edward, Kenneth, Philip Christopherson; four sisters, Rachel Kahl, Helen Nowak, Lila O'Flanagan, and infant Alice Christopherson. Jeanette is survived by her four children: Tom (Audrey) Mickelson of Tomah, Janet (Larry) Birkholz of Eau Claire, Maxine (Mark) Person of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ruthie Mickelson of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, Todd Mickelson of Schofield, Teri Grokowsky of Holmen, Erica Raddatz of Sparta, Alex Birkholz of New Richmond, Nathan Ruland of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Karla Grant of Holmen, Adam Birkholz of Eau Claire, Beth Danklefsen of Ocala, Florida; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Elsie Dahl of Colfax, Paul Christopherson of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Bernice Christopherson of Elk Mound, Ethel Losness of Menomonie, Thelma Kittel of Amery; Madeline Mickelson of Amery, and, brother-in-law Dan Kahl of Eau Claire, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah, WI.
