Jeanne "Beaner" Poquette, 90, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire after a brief illness. She studied business at the Eau Claire Vocational Technical School, after which she was employed at U.S. Rubber Co. and the Dried Milk Products Co-operative. While living in Madison she worked as a state and county employee as well as at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Back in Eau Claire, Beaner worked for the city treasury and police departments. Beaner was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. She sang in the Grace Lutheran choir, the Valley Gospel Choir and generally wherever she found a microphone or stage. She volunteered for the Chippewa Valley Museum, Eau Claire Visiting Nurses Association, Red Cross Grey Ladies, Eau Claire Service League and Luther Hospital Auxiliary. Beaner enjoyed many years playing golf at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, Pine Meadow Golf Club and Hickory Hills Golf Course. Other favorite activities included sewing, knitting, skiing, traveling, concerts and housekeeping. Perhaps most of all, Beaner enjoyed meeting new people wherever she went and sharing time with relatives and the many treasured friends who graced her life.
