Jeannette (Van Gorden) Tornowske Keith, 89, of Oak Gardens, Altoona, died Monday, December 30, 2002 at Clairemont Nursing Home. She was born in Osseo on September 27, 1913, the daughter of Clyde and Elsie (Caley) Van Gorden. Jeannette graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1932. She earned a teaching degree from UW-Eau Claire.\r\nJeannette married Russell W. Tornowske in Eau Claire in 1937, he died in 1960. In 1975 she married Alex Keith in Eau Claire, he died 1994.\r\nJeannette taught in Taylor, WI and then became a librarian at UW-Eau Claire. She retired from the Eau Claire Board of Education in 1975 where she traveled to elementary schools doing librarian work. Jeannette was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association as well as P.E.O. She was a very talented artist, pianist and was a loving grandmother.\r\nJeannette is survived by a son, Dick (Judy) Tornowske of Webster; four granddaughters, Ann (Ron) Krueger, Amy (Randi) Heimstead, Kelly Meyer all of Eau Claire and Kim Connors of New Lisbon, WI; grandson, Kevin Curry of Oxford, CT; four great-grandsons; nine great-granddaughters; brother, Schuyler (Eileen) Van Gorden Sr. of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Ethel Van Every; and a grandson-in-law Joe Connors.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Christ Church Cathedral-Episcopal with the Very Reverend H. Scott Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.\r\nIn lieu of flowers Jeannette's family wishes memorials be directed to Christ Church Cathedral-Episcopal, 510 South Farwell Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
