Jeff J. Grosvold, 68, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Mayo Hospital, Eau Claire. Jeff was born on September 4, 1955 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire to Victor Grosvold and Miriam (Hunt) Grosvold. He graduated from North High School in 1974. He married Kathy Derouin in 1976 and together raised their two children. In 2014, Jeff met Jeanni Kreutzfeldt and they spent several years traveling together and attending concerts. They were married on August 29, 2021. She preceded him in death. Jeff was employed by the City of Eau Claire for 35 years, in various positions from transit to parks maintenance to heavy equipment operator. His very favorite was his many years spent on Half Moon Lake operating the weed harvester, earning him the nickname "Comkelp". After retiring from the City, he spent several years in various "retirement jobs". Jeff enjoyed fishing, hunting, cheering on the Packers and Badgers, and spending time at the family cottage on Lake Holcombe. Later in life he found a passion in Geocaching which took him to many places including all 50 states, the Caribbean, Mexico, Iceland, and England. He also traveled sections of Route 66 from St. Louis to Santa Monica with his friends and son, exploring the various roadside attractions and pieces of Americana that still remain along the Mother Road. Jeff was also on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Geocaching Association. Jeff is survived by his son, Andy (Jen) Grosvold of Deerfield, WI; his daughter, Sarah (Bryan) Roff of Altoona, WI; his grandchildren, Abby and Evan Grosvold, Nolan and Easton Roff. He is further survived by his brother, Mike (Jane) Grosvold of Holcombe, WI; his sisters, Janet Oliver of Eau Claire, and Mary (Chuck) Hommen of Somerset, WI. He is further survived by 11 nieces and nephews and special friend, Jeanni's Aunt, Jo Ann Smith. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanni; sister, Karen Imm and her son, Matthew, and his brother-in-law, Dave Oliver. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire, WI with a Prayer Vigil Service taking place 6:45 p.m. A Funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 501 E. Fillmore Avenue, Eau Claire, WI., with Rev. Dr. Mark Schulz officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
