Obituary

Jeffery Alan Jones October 3, 1953 - November 25, 2025 Jeffery Alan Jones, born October 3, 1953, in Eau Claire, WI, to Robert and Esther (Garlie) Jones, passed away on November 25, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, humor, and the kind of blunt honesty people appreciated him for. Jeff graduated from Memorial High School in 1972 and went on to work at the Cascades paper plant for 43 years. In the maintenance department and through his union involvement, he was known for being dependable, hardworking, and never afraid to speak his mind. If something needed fixing, Jeff could fix it - and probably crack a joke while doing it. On November 11, 1978, Jeff married Jennifer (Hadrath) Jones, the love of his life. The two of them balanced each other perfectly with their shared humor and no-nonsense approach to life. They didn't need fancy things or big gestures - weekends together at Winter Haven or heading up to their cabin in Winter, WI, were more than enough. After Jennifer passed, that cabin became Jeff's home, a place where he found comfort and kept their traditions going. Jeff was a true outdoorsman. He loved hunting and trapping, and he enjoyed teaching others to do things the right way. He volunteered his time teaching Hunters Safety, helping generations learn not just the rules, but the respect that comes with being in the woods. And if he wasn't out tracking something or preparing for the next season, he was probably sitting by a fire telling a story that was just a little inappropriate - because Jeff never pretended to be anything but himself. He dressed up as an elf every Christmas, offered up his homemade baked beans to any gathering that needed them, and was always ready with a joke - usually dirty, usually funny, and always delivered with a straight face that made it even better. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Esther Jones; his sisters, Barbra, Donna and Kathryn; his brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Larry; the love of his life, Jennifer "Poopsie" Jones; his mother-in-law, Rosemary Hadrath (Roth); father-in-law, Sterling Hadrath; and his sister-in-law, Judith Johnson. He is survived by his children, Jon (Sara) Jones, Joanne Jones and Jamie (Kyle) Weidler; his niece, Bonita Miller; his grandchildren, Jessica Helland, Travis (Kaylee) Helland, Megan (Bailey) Blodgett, Ryan (Abigail) Helland, Sterling Jones and Stella Jones; his great-grandchildren, Quinnton, Annyka, Emilia, Lincoln, Jennifer Rose, Saylor, Pepper and Freya; his brother, Roger (Jane) Jones; and his beloved feline friend, Ozzy (Oswaldo), who rarely left his side. The family would like to give a special thank-you to Regional Hospice for all they did for Jeff in his last six months of life. You provided him with compassionate, top-notch care. Jeff always said, "Hospice isn't for dying - it's to help you live while you die." Jeff wasn't fancy, he wasn't dramatic, and he didn't put on a show. He lived the way he wanted, worked hard, loved his family, and made people laugh. That's the legacy he leaves behind. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, Eau Claire is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.lenmarkfh.com.
